Eurosonic Noorderslag 2014 focuses on Austria

25 April 2013

Eurosonic Noorderslag is gearing up for it’s 28th edition with Austria named as the Focus country for 2014.

Each year a different country is highlighted, showcasing the diverse musical talent across Europe. Other countries who have been showcased at previous editions include; France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, The Netherlands, Ireland and Finland.

Franz Hergovich, Austrian Music Export
“Eurosonic Noorderslag is the most important event for the European live sector, so this is a great honour and a big chance for the Austrian music scene! Currently there are a great number of interesting fresh acts from Austria that have enough class to profit from Eurosonic Noorderslag. Furthermore this chance will enable Austrian labels, bookers, agencies, managers and media to benefit even more from global networks with all of the international delegates. Austria is already famous for its rich musical tradition - now European festivals will be able to discover lots of our new top acts from diverse contemporary genres. I’m certain that this event will have a huge and lasting impact on the whole Austrian music sector."

Peter Smidt, Creative director Eurosonic Noorderslag:
“Highlighting Austrian music at Eurosonic Noorderslag is a natural thing to do. At previous editions of Eurosonic Noorderslag we’ve presented now successful Austrian acts like Soap & Skin, Elektro Guzzi, Bauchklang, Clara Luzia, Gin Ga and Steaming Satellites. Earlier this month Klangkarussell has a number 1 hit in The Netherlands. It has always been a pleasure to work together with our Austrian partners such as Radio FM4, Frequency Festival, Nova Rock Festival, Waves Festival and Austrian Music Export (mica – music austria & Austrian Music Fund). We are looking forward to receive the new and best Austrian acts at the coming edition of Eurosonic Noorderslag.”

The focus on Austria at Eurosonic Noorderslag will be organized by Austrian Music Export, a cooperation of mica – music Austria and The Austrian Music Fund, in together with Eurosonic Noorderslag.
